Title:  Lead Pastor

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Leadership Board lead the people of HOPE in its mission.  The Lead Pastor shall oversee the achievement of its objectives of Spiritual Formation, Missional Living, Evangelism, Community and Worship at HOPE.  The Lead Pastor shall account for the administration of the organizational aspects of HOPE, including leading paid staff, administration of finances and campus care and management.

Required Experience/Education:

  • Christian Commitment: Vital Christian faith and lifestyle
  • A Christian committed to living out their faith in daily life and supportive of the mission of HOPE Christian Fellowship.
  • Be in full agreement with HOPE’s Statement of Faith.
  • Ministry focused master’s degree (MDiv, MA Theology or equivalent)
  • Five years pastoral experience in a local church setting

Desired Experience:

  • Experience leading in a diverse multi-cultural setting
  • Successful track record of budget oversight
  • Small group ministry management

  • Experience ministering in a metropolitan context
  • Weekly speaking responsibility
  • Staff oversight/development
  • Knowledge of ministry focused software applications, preferred Planning Center, Pro-presenter, QuickBooks, Adobe Suite
  • Multi-Lingual

Essential Functions:

  • Preach 40-44 times a year
  • Collaborate with Leadership Board in setting direction for the church

  • Provide necessary materials/information for bi-weekly board meetings
  • Staff management and development
  • Support and manage effective ministry initiative in the church (Small groups, ministry teams, missional communities)
  • Pastoral care of the congregation
  • Strategic Planning

  • Campus and building management
  • Weekly worship planning
  • Care and development of lay leaders
  • Oversee the business functions of the church
  • Maintain personal spiritual formation

  • identify and implement innovative ministry opportunities
  • Articulate and communicate vision to the church
  • Pursue ongoing learning in theology, church ministry and culture

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply Biblical theology to a complex multi-cultural setting
  • Ability to be proactive, take ownership of assigned responsibilities, and work with little supervision
  • A positive, cooperative, Christ-like attitude supportive of the church and its mission
